A daisy is a flower, and people instantly think that if you are called daisy you are named after a flower. However the truth is a little different. The name Daisy comes from the word “dægeseage” which means “day’s eye”. So the name Daisy actually is referring to the sun rather than the plant.

Daisy is often described as happy and friendly name and became very popular in the UK and the USA. With both countries having the name ranked in the top 40 names of all time.

There have been lots of famous Daisy’s but the most famous Daisy comes from a fictional character “Daisy Duke” in the film Dukes of Hazard.
